DO NOT QUESTION THE ABILITY OF THE LORD

DO NOT QUESTION THE ABILITY OF THE LORD

As a child of God are you ever swallowed up by the difficulties of life so that you feel there is no hope?  Do you sometimes doubt the presence of God to help you?  Solution: Look at creation and do not question the ability of the Lord.

The prophet Zechariah foretold of how God would deliver His people and cause them to stand in His favor.  Many of his prophecies point to the blessings of God’s people bestowed richly upon them during the spiritual reign of Christ.

“…Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him” (Zechariah 12:1).  Robert Harkrider comments on this verse as follows: “Lest anyone question the ability of the Lord to execute these prophecies let him remember that the creation of the universe is by the wisdom and power of God.”  This is good advice for anyone who might begin to question the ability of the Lord.

Do not question the ability of the Lord to deliver you through trials.  He promised that He will “not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able” and that “He will make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor. 10:13).  If you doubt His ability to make good on His promise, consider the questions asked by Isaiah: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure?  Weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?” (Isa. 40:12).

Do not question the ability of the Lord to you raise you from the dead.  The same incredible power that raised Jesus from the dead will be present to raise us all from the dead on that final day.  Along with Paul we ask: “Why should it be thought incredible by you that God raises the dead?” (Acts 26:8).  After all, it is according to His “eternal power” that God created the world (see Rom. 1:20).

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Gen. 18:14).
